Each week, a panel of specialists from IU School of Medicine and our community partners will convene to discuss and offer guidance on how to apply best practice principles to the management of pediatric behavioral health in community settings.
Amy Blackett, JD
Amy Blackett is the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Resource Prosecutor at the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC). In this role, Amy serves as a resource for prosecutors all over the state who have questions about their domestic violence and sexual assault cases. She helps train them in trial skills, legal and practical strategies to achieve the best-case results possible. See More >>
Prior to joining IPAC, Amy was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Marion County for over 10 years. There, she litigated sex crimes, child abuse, domestic violence, burglary, drug cases and more. Amy earned her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2009 after receiving her undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Indiana University in 2006. Amy's husband is a federal prosecutor, and together they live in Hamilton County with their two daughters and two cats.
Angie Morris, BSN, RN, CEN, SANE-A, SANE-P, EMT
Angie Morris is employed by the University of Southern Indiana’s College of Nursing and Health Professions, where she coordinates advanced nursing education for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and other Indiana healthcare providers on medical forensic care. See More >>
Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in the concentration of Social & Behavioral Science with minors in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Marian University, where she graduated with honors. She is currently an MSN candidate at the University of Southern Indiana and will graduate with honors in May 2022. Angie has experience as a forensic nurse examiner in the Emergency Department of a metropolitan level I trauma center, providing services to both adult and pediatric patients. She is a board-certified Emergency Nurse and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and has served as a forensic nurse on hundreds of cases, provided expert and witness testimony in courtrooms, and has delivered medical forensic education to more than 1,500 healthcare providers since 2019.
Prior to becoming a Registered Nurse, Angie worked for nearly 13 years in the criminal justice and legal field serving both state and local government. Angie was awarded distinguished membership to the Academy of Forensic Nursing in 2021. She is also a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and Emergency Nurses Association. In 2019, Angie was appointed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to serve on the Indiana State Board of Nursing. She also holds a seat on the Indiana Statewide Sexual Assault Response Team and served as the Forensic Committee Chair of the Indiana Emergency Nurses Association from 2017-2021. Angie is a lifelong Hoosier and resides with her husband and two children in Fishers, Indiana.
Tara (Harris) Holloran, MD
Dr. Tara (Harris) Holloran is a child abuse pediatrician at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Dr. Holloran has served leadership roles in national child advocacy organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Helfer Society. She currently works as part of Riley’s Child Protection Team, which provides medical evaluation for approximately 6,000 suspected victims of child abuse annually. See More >>
She attended the University of Illinois as an undergraduate, followed by Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed residency and fellowship training at Riley Hospital for Children. She is passionate about raising awareness of the subtle signs of child abuse to promote earlier detection and protection of children.
Caryn C Burton, MS
Caryn is the training coordinator at The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, holding that position since January of 2007. Previously, she worked in direct victim services for eight years as both an outreach and court advocate and as the director of a transitional housing program. See More >>
Caryn (she/her) graduated with her BA in psychology and communications from Butler University in 1999. She earned her MS in Counseling with an emphasis in the school setting, also through Butler University, in May of 2007. After earning her undergraduate degree, Caryn completed a one-year term of service with AmeriCorps, working with Legal Services of Indiana. She went on to supervise the IndyCorps program for three years, directing 90 service members.
Caryn is a survivor of a violent adolescent relationship and has worked throughout her life to educate about the effects of relationship abuse. Beginning in high school, Caryn began presenting to audiences of various backgrounds about domestic violence and healthy relationships in high school.
Ashli Smiley, BSN, RN
Ashli is the Statewide Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Coordinator in the Office of Women’s Health at the Indiana State Department of Health. Ashli has twelve years of experience as a registered nurse, with a background in medical progressive care, medical surgical care, adult medical psychiatric acute care, psychiatric care across the lifespan, emergency care, and medical forensic care across the lifespan. Ashli completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology with Honors from Indiana State University. She furthered her education at Lakeview College of Nursing, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ashli is a Certified SANE-A and SANE-P. She is also a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, Certified Weight Management Consultant, and Certified Holistic Nutritionist. Ashli is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, International Association of Forensic Nurses, and the Academy of Forensic Nursing. Prior to beginning her career as a nurse, Ashli worked as an office manager and consultant for a legal team, a customer representative and marketing coordinator within a financial institution, and a financial education liaison in community outreach.
In 2015, she completed her forensic nurse training and has worked as a forensic nurse in the emergency department of an Indianapolis level one trauma center, as well as a rural county hospital. She has experience with providing quality, evidence-based care and services for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients. She uses her experience for the benefit of training and precepting new forensic nurses, establishing opportunities to increase, expand, and/or improve survivor services throughout Indiana, serving on state, regional, and local committees for the betterment of survivor outcomes, and providing witness testimony in court proceedings.
Kerry Hyatt Bennett, JD
Kerry Hyatt Bennett has been the Chief Legal Counsel at the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) since 2005, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis for a decade, specializing in state and federal domestic violence law. See More >>
Ms. Bennett is a frequent speaker on the legal issues and challenges for survivors of violence in the justice system as a whole, and in society. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including the Leadership in Law Award from the Indiana Lawyer, the “Woman of Influence” recognition by the Indianapolis Business Journal, the Access to Justice Award from the Muslim Alliance of Indiana, and the Antoinette Dakin Leach Award from the Women in Law Division of the Indianapolis Bar Association, which recognizes trailblazing women lawyers. Ms. Bennett also served as that organization’s president in 2013.
Michael S. Daley, Sgt.
Michael Daley is legal instructor and senior supervisor for use of force training at Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He has worked for Indianapolis Metro for over 20 years with assignments in patrol work, field training, criminal investigations, and the academy. He graduated top of his academy class and has received numerous commendations and awards. He earned his law degree from Robert H. McKinney School of Law, graduating in 2009.
Camila Arnaudo, MD
Camila Arnaudo is a psychiatrist affiliated with Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital and Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital. She received her medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine and has been in practice between 11-20 years. She is one of 17 doctors at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital and one of 5 at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital who specialize in Psychiatry.
